In our design team, research isn’t just the responsibility of our dedicated UX researchers. It’s an integral part of every designer’s role.

Conducting thorough research allows us to gain valuable insights into user needs, preferences, and behaviors, ultimately driving the creation of exceptional user experiences.

Equally important is the process of effectively sharing our research findings and insights with the rest of the company, ensuring that the knowledge we gather is accessible and utilized by all.

Here’s how our design team embraces a culture of knowledge sharing, and some of the ways we disseminate our UX research across the organization.

Quarterly compilation

To consolidate our research findings and insights, we publish a comprehensive compilation of learnings on a quarterly basis. This compilation includes summaries of various research studies, highlighting key findings, user pain points, and design recommendations. We include links to presentation decks, recordings, or other artifacts generated during the research process. We group the research by themes, making it easier for others to digest.

This asset lives in Confluence, which makes it easy to access, edit, and share.

Research Slack channel

To keep the company informed about ongoing research activities throughout the quarter, we maintain a dedicated Slack channel where we share real-time updates of the work we’re doing.

This channel serves as a hub for communicating research objectives, methods, and progress. It also provides an opportunity for team members to ask questions, provide input, or express interest in participating in research studies.

By fostering a transparent and collaborative environment, we enable cross-functional teams to stay informed and engage with the research process.

Friday forum

Every Friday, we host a one-hour session that is open to everyone at the company. The topic and presenters vary, but the design team regularly uses this time to present and discuss recent research findings, methodologies, and user insights.

By providing this opportunity, we facilitate a space for knowledge-sharing, fostering a deeper understanding of user needs and experiences across the entire company.

The Friday sessions often lead to lively and insightful cross-team discussions that help us solve problems together!

Encouraging research integration in design workflows

To maximize the impact of our UX research, we emphasize the integration of research insights into design workflows. We advocate for designers to actively leverage research findings when making design decisions, ensuring that the user’s perspective remains at the forefront of their work.

By embedding research into the design process, we create a continuous feedback loop that further enhances the quality and effectiveness of our designs.

Sharing UX research findings and insights is a fundamental component of our user-centered design approach. By making research accessible, transparent, and integrated into our design workflows, we foster a culture of collective learning, collaboration, and empathy for our users.

From quarterly compilations of research learnings to real-time updates on Slack and Friday sessions open to all employees, we strive to empower our entire company with valuable user insights.

Through these efforts, we cultivate an environment where research informs our design decisions, ultimately leading to products and experiences that truly resonate with our users.
